5 local startups exhibiting at Tech in Asia Singapore 2016

In November last year, Tech in Asia Jakarta’s sprawling grounds were filled with a total of 212 curated startup booths, exhibiting innovative business ideas from around the region at Bootstrap Alley. This year, that number will grow to 300.

Already, we have confirmed a score of compelling startups coming to Bootstrap Alley, and are thrilled to share a preview of who you can meet come April 12 and 13 at Tech in Asia Singapore 2016.

To kick off our Bootstrap Alley feature, we are introducing five homegrown startups from Singapore you can catch in person – don’t forget to keep an eye out for them!

Lomotif

lomotif

If you’ve always wanted to star in your own music videos but have neither the fame nor fortune for it, here’s your solution. Lomotif is an app that allows users to create a video from their existing stash of video clips, easily complete their creation with songs from iTunes, and share it on various social media platforms.

Touting itself as the first app to introduce b-roll, a concept used in professional broadcast production, Lomotif intends to equip casual mobile users with the ability to create creative content.

Fixir

fixir

Fixir grew out of a simple frustration its founders ran into – and a common one many car owners here face. How can you tell if you’re paying too much for your car maintenance or repair? Through its website (www.fixir.co) and upcoming mobile app, Fixir allows drivers to easily submit their car problem via a description or photo and receive quotations from nearby workshops to enable them to make informed decisions. The startup hopes to kickstart an era of value pricing, quality service, and efficiency in the automotive post-sales industry.

Gingerabbit

A common new year’s resolution we hear people making is to be healthier in the year ahead. However, with limited options available, it’s only a matter of time before one starts to feel like the universe is conspiring against them. In this case, Gingerabbit is here to help, guiding consumers with a targeted approach to finding healthy foods. It allows users to scan comprehensive nutritional information of dishes from merchants that have come onboard the platform, so they can make an informed decision about their meals.

At the same time, Gingerabbit convinces restaurants to come onboard with the promise of reaching the right audience by tagging and indexing each of their dishes.

Novelinked

novelinked

What happens to a book when you’re done reading it? If you’re anything like me, it’ll probably end up sitting on a dusty shelf never to see the light of day again. Novelinked plans to breathe new life into used books with its location-based, social book swapping app. Aiming to be a platform “where old books meet new friends,” the startup provides curated matches using a catalogued book shelf, reading preference, and location of its users to match users with one another.

Novelinked currently targets India, Indonesia, and Philippines in the hopes of solving the emerging world problem of limited access to library infrastructure against the backdrop of their growing English reading populations.

Detrack

detrack

The worst part about online shopping is, without a doubt, the waiting. Not knowing where on earth your parcel is, hoping someone will be home when it finally gets delivered, and the list goes on. Those days might be a thing of the past with Detrack, a global last-mile delivery service whose ultimate aim is to provide consumers reliable – and affordable – delivery.
Bn creating their own mobile-app based vehicle tracking and proof of delivery system, Detrack makes it possible for users to track their delivery on-the-go, be notified instantly with any updates, and capture proof of delivery. With this, the startup wants to place users in total control of their fleet – with just the use of their smartphones.
