Recently I’ve been seeing some interesting iPhone cases from vendors in Japan, and I thought I’d run down through a few of them here. If you’re in the market covering your iPhone with a layer of wackiness, there is no better place to find it than in Japan. Here’s a selection of five of them for your viewing pleasure:
What’s cooler than being cool?

Ice cold son, that’s what. Here’s an iPhone case that looks like a generous serving of shaved ice with lots of strawberry and a slice of mikan on the side.
This certainly looks good, particularly on a hot summer day. But I don’t think I’d want it on my phone if there wasn’t a proper ice cream store nearby.
Incidentally, you can get all kinds of iPhone covers that resemble food in Japan. I’ve never seen them in the wild, but I’m sure they’d make a great gift for someone else. This one will set you back 3990 yen (about $50).
Tradition Meets Technology

I like tatami mats. They smell nice. And for admirers of the Japanese aesthetic, you can now get some ‘o that action on your iPhone 4. Protect your phone with a miniature tatami mat, and you’ll never be unprepared if you have leprechauns over for tea.
As much as I love tatami, I’m not sure that I could bring myself to stick one on an iPhone though.
