The laundry startup niche saw some excitement today in India as home services provider Housejoy today acquired on-demand dry cleaning company MyWash for an undisclosed amount.

Founded in January last year by Arjun Mendu and Sunil Goel, Housejoy provides its customers with a number of home upkeep services, including maintenance, home repairs, plumbing, electrical work, house cleaning, and computer repair. The startup also deals with beauty and has in-house bridal makeup specialists.

“Laundry is strategic to Housejoy,” said Saran Chatterjee, Housejoy CEO, in a statement. “The MyWash team is a super smart team and has demonstrated the best operational know-how on how to scale laundry.” The startup is looking to scale to 10,000 laundry orders per day, the statement said.

Housejoy is present in 13 cities in India and has raised US$4 million funding in series A from Matrix Partners and US$22 million in series B funding from Amazon, Vertex Ventures, Qualcomm, and Ru-Technology Partners. MyWash’s core team will join Housejoy and will operate out of Housejoy’s office.
