First deals aggregator app in Asia launches

With more than 50 deals site across Asia Pacific working with them, All Deals Asia hopes that their app, which was launched last week for the iPhone, would be the preferred choice among daily deals fans.

I’m told by the company that it is the first deals aggregator app in Asia. Users can browse and compare deals on the app, instead of having to visit multiple sites. “We believe this will help customers save both time and money when searching for the best discounts,” said Goh Yiping, founder of Singapore-based All Deals Asia.

“Our iPhone App will offer greater convenience and also enhance users’ deals shopping experience.”

Other features of the app include the ability to sort deals by country, date, popularity, categories, or proximity, and an alert feature to remind users to redeem their deal.

Just two days after its launch, the app has made it to the top three in the lifestyle category and 38th overall on the Singapore App Store. In the near future, users can expect push notification of new deals from the app as well as an Android version.

Currently, All Deals Asia has deals from Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, and Hong Kong. Within Singapore, only the top daily deals players like Groupon and Deals.com.sg have their own mobile apps.

The deals aggregator was started in August 2010 by Goh Yiping and Wayne, who are siblings. They received funding of an undisclosed sum from Iconic Ventures, an investment holding company and angel investor that funds promising startups in Singapore and Asia.

The launch of All Deals Asia’s app has come in a time where skepticism over the daily deals model has grown. The share price for Groupon — the first daily deals company to go public — has fallen below its initial IPO value. On the other hand, more competitors are looking to enter the industry, with PayPal being one of them.
