Singapore-based app security startup Appknox has raised US$654,000 in pre-series A funding. Primarily working with clients in India, it will use the funding to extend its services to Southeast Asia.
Seed-stage venture capital firm SeedPlus – a fund jointly set up by Jungle Ventures, Infocomm Investments, Accel Partners, and RNT Associates – led the round.
Appknox tests the security of mobile apps in a virtual online setting by inputting the app store’s URL. It identifies weaknesses and advises on how to fix them.
The startup currently has over 50 clients in India, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates. Four of those clients are in Singapore, including Redmart and Hooq. It counts Paytm and BigBasket among its clients in India.
Founded in April 2014 by Harshit Agarwal, Subho Halder, and Prateek Panda, Appknox seeks to raise its series A round by the end of this year.
