Gurgaon-based Healthkart has raised nearly US$12 million in a series E round of funding from a group of existing investors. Participants in the round include Sequoia Capital, Kae Capital, Omidyar Network, and others.

Healthkart, operated by Bright Lifecare, will put the money toward offline expansion and marketing.

The startup was founded in 2011 by Prashant Tandon and Sameer Maheshwari. It is an online health supplement marketplace, with products for fitness, nutrition, sports nutrition, health devices, personal care, eye care, parenting, and pet care. Prashant earned an MBA from Stanford University, and Maheshwari studied at Harvard Business School.

Last month, e-pharmacy startup 1mg (formerly HealthKartPlus, a spinoff of Healthkart) acquired diagnostic and imaging tests company Medd.

Tokri, a hyperlocal grocery delivery startup, has secured US$2.5 million in a pre-series A round of funding from Syska LED group.

The deal comes with a commitment from Syska to add to that amount in the future.

Tokri plans to put the funding toward upgrading technology and marketing.

Founded by Neeraj Kansa and Ishant Goyal in April last year, Tokri is operated by Orange Etorki India. The startup purchases fresh produce from farmers, and other groceries from distributors, wholesalers, and neighborhood stores. Neeraj got a B.Tech degree from Punjab University, while Ishant attended IIM-Ahmedabad.

In April, grocery startup Peppertap shut down.
