New World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor expansion announced, trailer debuted at Blizzcon

The sky is blue, the sea is wet, and World of Warcraft keeps chugging along. In news that surprised precisely no one, Blizzard took advantage of its own Blizzcon games conference today to officially announce Warlords of Draenor, the next expansion to the company’s long-running MMORPG champ World of Warcraft. The company also revealed the expansion’s debut trailer, which you can see right here:

OK, had enough of beefy orcs for the moment. Here are some of the details about Draenor: the expansion will feature seven new areas, six new five player dungeons, and two new raids (with more coming after the launch). New bosses, new rewards, a new PvP zone, and a new level cap of 100 will all be available. And perhaps best of all, new players will be allowed to level one of their characters to level 90 immediately, so they don’t have to go through the tiresome process of grinding levels for days just to enjoy the game. Players will also be able to build upgradable garrisons and recruit NPCs to join them and to help out on any of the hundreds of new quests.

The expansion will also feature an upgraded graphics engine, although Blizzard was coy on the specifics. To be frank, based on the official trailer, it doesn’t look like the game will really be getting a significant graphical upgrade, but hey, any improvement is better than none at all, right?
