My365 = Photo-Taking + Calendar, Result? 100,000 Downloads in 10 days

my365poMy365 is a new photo app in Japan. It has similar functions to Instagram – social sharing and photo filters.

But it does one thing better than Instagram. The app actually places the photos you snapped into a neatly-designed calendar. Photos are often browsed to refresh one’s memory of a past event. And browsing photos with dates labeled prominently makes the experience even more awesome.

While that may seem like a small improvement in the crowded photo app space, the result seems to suggest otherwise. We were told by Yuto Mukoyama, producer of My365, that the app has attracted over 100,000 downloads in the last 10 days.

When comparing between Instagram and My365, Mukoyama told me that My365 is not just a photo filter app. Rather, it is built for users to use it as photo journal service, resulting in the birth of the photos + calendar concept.

The app looks pretty neat, to be honest, and I can see the calendar being a very useful feature if I continue taking pictures on a daily basis. Of course, some of you guys might see this as a small gimmick which could easily be adopted by Instagram or any other photo apps.

But for now, victory is in the hands of My365. 100,000 downloads in 10 days is seriously something to cheer for. Hurray!

The app is in Japanese and English and it’s only available for iOS for now. Click here (iTunes link) to give it a try.
