Microsoft’s mobile OS, Windows Phone 7 – aka: WP7 – isn’t even officially supported in mainland China (in contrast to Hong Kong, Taiwan) – but that hasn’t stopped major players on the Chinese internet from launching some sweet-looking WP7 apps.
Here are five of the biggest-name Chinese portal WP7 apps, in all their shininess:
1. QQ Browser
Tencent’s totally brand-new QQ Browser just launched this weekend. It’s just at v1.0.0, and initial reviews say it’s a bit rough around the edges, but it’s good there’s a localized option aside from mobile IE.
2. QQ instant-messenger
Tencent’s ubiquitous QQ instant-messenger has a WP7 app, in a major boost to the platform. Afterall, who here would use a phone that couldn’t handle a bit off QQing?
3. Tudou.com
Video-sharing site Tudou.com has a video browsing and playing app. Though it has been launched via an indie developer’s account, we have assurances that this is the official Tudou app, to accompany its iOS and Android brethren. Lamentably, not only has Tudou not bothered to get themselves an offical Marketplace account, they couldn’t even make the effort to provide screenshots.
4. Jiayuan.com
Dating-site Jiayuan.com – which quite recently IPO’d in the US – has a fully functional WP7 app for all your mobile wooing and flirting needs.
