Yesterday, rumors were spreading across the web that Baidu and Microsoft would be partnering together in China. Today, we received a confirmation email from Baidu acknowledging that a partnership between the two is at finalization stage.

“We’ll be making an announcement soon about this,” said Kaiser Kuo, spokesperson at Baidu.

Details of the partnership will be announced within the next couple of days but speculators are already saying that Baidu might leverage on Microsoft Bing’s English search, a problem that Baidu has been trying to solve. Bing could also use Baidu’s Chinese search ranking technology.

After Google’s withdrawal, Baidu has flourished over the recent years in China. In Q1 2011, Baidu accounted for 77.6 percent of the total search market revenue, a whopping $382 million.
