Start-up Helps Optimize Your Mobile Strategy

Founded in Feb 2011, Singapore-based Roound, is a mobile SaaS platform that helps businesses optimize their mobile strategy. Think Roound as a platform that makes your website mobile friendly with useful features firing up your mobile strategy including video, photos, QR codes and multi-language support.

Now, with these features, business owners can think about creative ways to engage users through their mobile-optimized website. Plus, there isn’t a need for users or clients to download an app. Your mobile-optimized website is widely available on almost all smartphones in the world.

“It is white-label, cross-platform, supports video on mobile, integrates social media and supports multi-language inputs,” explained Rif Chia, CEO and founder of Roound.

Chia also told us that Roound is built based on feedback and usability studies. “We know for a fact that mobile consumers behave differently while on the go and Roound aims to deliver measurable results based on research data,” he said.

It’s looking good for Roound. After launching its SaaS platform for business users just 4 weeks ago, Roound now has both Singapore and overseas clients. Local clients include Bonta Group, District 10 Wine Bar and Emerald Hills Group. While overseas clients include Island Lava Java from Hawaii, Shakespeare Festival in United States and tourism spot “Cotton Gin Village” in Texas. Despite in its early stage, Roound is already a profitable business.

Like any other start-ups, Roound also faces competition: There are 3 main competitors namely Mobify.me, Mofuse.com and MobiSiteGalore.com. Chia told us that Roound supports more mobile platforms and has a clear edge in terms of usability, design and features.

“I’ve used their products during my market research but I don’t think it is fair for me to judge my competitors openly from a single point of view. I will leave it to the readers to discover the differences and that will be fair,” said Chia.

Looking Ahead

Founder Rif Chia is a technical entrepreneur which allows him to built the product without spending too much resources in Roound’s development stage. Roound is currently self-funded but Chia did told us that he is looking for investors to scale the business quickly.

“From conceptual to being fully-developed, I believe Roound is now ready to attain funding for marketing and R&D purposes,” he said.

Roound also has a list of concurrent and future developments in its roadmap which includes mobile payment. You can try Roound’s service here. Feel free to give your honest feedback. I believe Chia would very much appreciate any form of comment or criticism about Roound.
