IBM Holds Technology Conferences Across Southeast Asia

This year, the IBM Technology Conference and Expo 2011 was first held at Jakarta, Indonesia on Tuesday.

The objective for this event is to introduce IBM’s smarter computing concept. In essence, smarter computing means to have more capability to process high amount of data with analytics.

It is the process of integrating scattered data through the IBM system with analytical capabilities. There are 3 steps to it: (1) to integrate the data, (2) automate the process, and (3) secure the infrastructures to protect the data.

“Improved performance of IBM Power 7 System today describes the sustainable investment on servers that have been optimized for the workload. Only within two months after IBM reveals the future of computing technology with analytic capabilities and sophisticated learning, IBM shows its new improved performance,” said Fetra Syahbana, Country Manager of IBM Systems and Technology Group.

There were also expo featuring IBM partner companies, including VMWare, Intel, Red Hat, and many more.

Although the event was held on a weekday, the attendance of the conference turned out great. There were more than 1,200 visitors who joined this event.

Manny Portugal, IBM Business Development Manager for ASEAN said, “The enthusiasm of the people of Indonesia on the development of technology is very high. This shows that the ability of communities to develop and apply the concept of smart computing is already adequate. If not, they would not be interested in events like this.”

At the end, the IBM Technology Conference and Expo ended by providing attractive prizes to visitors. These prizes include the iPad, Nintendo Wii, XBox, and Scoopy motorcycle.

It was a joy to network and learn through the IBM experience. Hopefully with more events like this, the IT community in Indonesia – and Asia in general – could grow and inspire more new innovations .
