Profitability has become a badge that Southeast Asian startups wear with pride.
It’s been five years since regional funding hit its all-time peak, and there’s no sign of a recovery soon. In this climate, turning a profit is now a goal for most startups in Southeast Asia that Tech in Asia spoke with.
With VCs no longer throwing easy money, sustainable business models have become highly sought after.
That’s why we’ve compiled a list of tech startups and companies in Southeast Asia that have stayed in the black in their last reported fiscal year, even as data on earnings is often hard to come by.
Our list includes over 60 profitable tech companies in the region and is constantly updated to reflect the latest information.
We’ve also made a list of firms that posted positive EBITDA or operating profits in their most recent fiscal year. Most of these companies remained at a net loss.
While EBITDA is a useful metric, it also has its pitfalls.
If you’re an investor, we hope these lists offer you more leads. For founders or CEOs with companies on the path to profitability, you might discover peers to learn from.
