Decades ago, did anyone imagine that communication would be as easy as it is right now? Thanks to social media and mobile technology, conversations are generated on the go. With a click of a button we can effectively reach out to our network of friends.
People share, connect and converse on the web, which wasn’t the case sometime back. Two-way communication is now a breeze.
The first form of conversation over the web was done in the year 1971 over an email. Since then, web media is constantly redefining to today’s era of Facebook and Twitter.
It all started from the West but the social media revolution now involves the largest continent on Earth. In fact, Asia is the fastest growing continent in terms of social network adoption rate. Indonesia is ranked the second largest Facebook nation with 33 million users. Countries like Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam are also catching up.
It isn’t all about Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. The history of social networking isn’t complete without China’s Renren, Sina Weibo, Google’s Orkut and Japan‘s GREE and Mixi. Nonetheless, it’s still a graphic worth sharing.

great infographic, but all those social network banned from China~~
Pretty awesome infographic. I remember those geocities days, and sometimes they host some of my old favorite web haunts for personal fanpages and similar things. Look how far we’ve come, from just a simple near-pass message between two PC’s to conversing in real time with people from the opposite side of the globe.
