Rupert Murdoch Says Chinese Still Hacking WSJ, Conveniently Forgets How His Tabloids Hacked Phones

Rupert Murdoch on Chinese hackers

A tweet posted by News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch today says, in relation to the Wall Street Journal, that “Chinese still hacking us, or were over weekend.” This comes a week after the New York Times, Bloomberg, and the WSJ all revealed sustained hack attacks on their journalists and/or databases by Chinese hackers.

Of course, Rupert Murdoch knows a lot about hacking, and his own British-based tabloids gained a lot of intel from years of phone hacking celebrities, politicians, and crime victims in the UK. That includes getting a private investigator to gather personal information about the family of the murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler. Because that really sells papers.

Apparently hacking is fine so long as it only involves voicemail passwords, getting private investigators to do illegal surveillance, and bribing police officers.
