WeRide Q3 net loss narrows to $43.2m on robotaxi demand

WeRide reported a Q3 net loss of 307 million yuan (US$43.2 million), down from a 1 billion yuan (US$145.6 million) loss year-on-year, as robotaxi revenue climbed 7x to 35 million yuan (US$4.95 million).

The China-based autonomous driving company has been working with Grab and Uber to expand robotaxi fleets and has received permits to operate in eight countries, including Abu Dhabi and Switzerland.

WeRide’s Hong Kong-listed shares have fallen 24% since their recent debut amid concerns about growing competition in the driverless vehicle sector.

China has identified autonomous driving as a strategic priority, aiming for global leadership in the industry by 2035.
