Vertex Ventures leads $10m round in Indian luxury rental platform

Elivaas, a luxury vacation rental platform based in India, has raised 87 crore rupee (US$10 million) in a series B round led by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India.

Peak XV Partners’ Surge and 3one4 Capital also participated in the funding.

Founded in 2023, Elivaas manages short-term rentals of villas and apartments in 30 Indian destinations for homeowners and travelers.

The company will use the new funding to expand operations in India, prepare for international markets, and invest in technology.

For the fiscal year ending March 2024, Elivaas reported revenue of 7 crore rupee (US$798,539) and a loss of 10.4 crore rupee (US$1.2 million).

The platform previously raised US$5 million in series A funding in April 2024.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Luxury villa rentals represent the largest segment of a rapidly expanding market

ELIVAAS enters the vacation rental industry at an opportune moment, as luxury villas dominate the high-end rental market.

Villas currently generate $10.5 billion in revenue within the luxury vacation rental sector and account for approximately 49% of the total luxury market share12.

The broader luxury vacation rental market is projected to grow from $29.5 billion in 2025 to $89.1 billion by 2032, representing a compound annual growth rate of 16.9%1.

This growth is driven by rising demand from high-net-worth individuals seeking personalized vacation experiences and properties in secluded locations that offer privacy and customized services1.

ELIVAAS’s focus on managing luxury villas and apartments positions the company directly in the market’s most valuable and fastest-growing segment, potentially explaining investor confidence in its Rs 500 crore valuation despite being only two years old.

2️⃣ Market saturation is forcing operators to compete on efficiency rather than just supply growth

The vacation rental industry is experiencing a fundamental shift from rapid expansion to operational optimization as competition intensifies.
