🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Family office boom signals wealth concentration and shifting priorities
The funding for Eton Solutions reflects a broader expansion in the family office sector, which has grown from an estimated 6,500-10,500 offices globally in 2019 to over 9,000 in 2023.
This growth correlates with increasing returns to capital over labor, driving the creation of multi-generational fortunes that require sophisticated management structures 1.
While North America currently hosts the largest concentration of family offices, Asia Pacific is rapidly gaining ground, mirroring global shifts in wealth distribution that Eton is strategically positioning to serve with its Singapore headquarters.
The evolution of these offices has expanded beyond traditional investment management, with many now handling succession planning, tax matters, and even household tasks, which explains why comprehensive platforms like AtlasFive are gaining traction 2.
Notably, younger generations managing family wealth are demonstrating different priorities than their predecessors, showing greater concern for environmental and social impacts, which is driving demand for more sophisticated investment tracking and reporting capabilities 2.
2️⃣ AI adoption represents the new competitive frontier in wealth management
Eton’s emphasis on AI capabilities (with 400+ AI use cases) aligns with industry-wide technology transformation, where approximately 50% of executives at firms managing over $1 billion in assets are already implementing or piloting generative AI solutions 3.
