UOB and FPT, a Vietnam-based technology company, signed a memorandum of understanding in Singapore to explore cooperation in AI, digital transformation, and financial services innovation.

The signing took place at the Vietnam-Singapore Tech Connect Forum during Vietnamese leader To Lam’s official visit.

The MoU covers potential work in AI and digital innovation in banking, digital banking transformation, financial technology innovation, and regional growth and ecosystem development.

The companies said the collaboration could draw on data analytics, intelligent automation, cloud, application programming interfaces, and modern architecture.

The deal gives UOB a Vietnam-linked technology partner. UOB has banking subsidiaries in Vietnam and four other markets, and about 430 branches and offices across 19 markets.

For FPT, the MoU expands its banking-focused AI work. The company said it has worked with Shinhan Bank since 2018 on digital banking modernization and financial technology solutions.

The move also aligns with UOB’s AI plans, following a three-year collaboration with Accenture on AI for operations, risk management, and customer experience.
