UK’s organ-preservation tech firm OrganOx raises $142m
OrganOx, a UK-based company specializing in organ preservation technology, has raised US$142 million in a funding round led by HealthQuest Capital.
The company has developed a technology approved in the United States and Europe that extends the preservation time of donor livers to up to 24 hours.
This timeframe is nearly double the duration provided by traditional cold storage methods.
OrganOx reports that its platform has been used in over 5,000 liver transplants worldwide. The company plans to explore the potential of its technology for kidney transplants in the future.
