UK workplace firm Veremark raises $26m series B
Veremark, a UK-based workplace trust company, has secured US$26 million in series B funding led by Gresham House Ventures to support its global expansion and development of new products, including AI tools.
The company, which has experienced a 300% rise in revenue run rate in 2025, recently acquired Agenda Screening Services, a background screening firm based in Hull.
Veremark offers international background checks, whistleblowing platforms, and a blockchain-based credential system called Verepass.
The firm employs over 200 staff across seven offices, including in the UAE, New Zealand, and the Philippines, serving more than 6,000 clients globally.
The funding aims to enhance verification solutions amid rising concerns over AI-generated false data and identity fraud, with the market for workplace trust initiatives estimated at US$120 billion annually.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Veremark’s funding supports a three-pronged trust strategy beyond background checks
- Veremark’s acquisition of Agenda Screening Services adds a traditional background-screening business, alongside its workplace-trust suite with international background checks and a whistleblowing platform.
- Series B funding will back global expansion and new products, including AI tools aimed at AI-generated false data and identity fraud.
- Its Verepass product is a blockchain-based credential system (a way to issue tamper-resistant digital proof of qualifications). It points to a longer-term push beyond one-time checks toward portable, verifiable credentials.
AI-enabled fraud is pushing verification and compliance up the hiring agenda
- Veremark’s growth tracks rising concern about AI-generated false data and identity fraud, with the workplace trust market estimated at US$120 billion a year.
- Some standard hiring practices can fall short on their own, which nudges companies toward tougher verification to cut the risk of AI-driven misinformation.
- HR technology could move into an “arms race” where HR teams feel pressure to buy more advanced tools. That can raise hiring costs, add process friction, and leave smaller firms behind.
