TSMC to issue $582m green bonds for eco-friendly investments
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) will issue 19.2 billion New Taiwan Dollars (US$582 million) in green bonds on Mar. 28, as announced by the Taipei Exchange (TPEx).
The proceeds will fund green architecture, renewable energy projects, and related investments.
The sale includes 12 billion New Taiwan Dollars (US$363.51 million) in five-year bonds at a 1.9% coupon rate and 7.2 billion New Taiwan Dollars (US$218.11 million) in 10-year bonds at 2.05%.
Yuanta Securities is the primary underwriter.
Since 2020, TSMC has raised 121.9 billion New Taiwan Dollars (US$3.69 billion) through green bonds, making it Taiwan’s largest issuer.
This issuance is part of a broader 60 billion New Taiwan Dollars (US$1.82 billion) corporate bond plan approved in November 2024 to support production expansion and pollution reduction.
Taiwan’s total outstanding green bonds now amount to 627.7 billion New Taiwan Dollars (US$19.01 billion), with the first issuance listed in 2017.
