TSMC chip curbs could harm Taiwan companies, China says
China’s Taiwan Affairs Office has expressed concern over a United States order to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) to halt exports of advanced chips to select Chinese firms.
Zhu Fenglian, the Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson, said the US move could escalate tensions involving Taiwan and potentially harm Taiwanese companies.
TSMC halted shipments on Monday to comply with US export controls on advanced technology and national security.
The directive also affects Huawei, a key tech company on the US-restricted trade list.
