Pony.ai, a Chinese autonomous driving company backed by Toyota, plans to introduce robotaxi services at Hong Kong International Airport, initially for staff, with future expansion to urban areas.
The company showcased its sixth-generation robotaxi at the airport in December but has not disclosed a launch timeline.
Operating in regions like South Korea, Luxembourg, and the Middle East, Pony.ai’s global fleet includes over 250 robotaxis and 190 robotrucks.
This move comes after the company raised US$413.4 million in a Nasdaq IPO in November, although further details about its growth strategy remain undisclosed.
