TikTok challenges Canadian order halting its operations

TikTok’s Canadian division is seeking a judicial review after being ordered to halt operations over security concerns.

The emergency motion requests the Federal Court to either overturn the order or send it back to the Canadian government for reconsideration.

The government had reviewed TikTok’s expansion plans in Canada, which led to an order last month demanding a halt in the company’s business activities.

TikTok contends this would result in job losses for hundreds of Canadians.

Notably, the order does not affect Canadians’ access to the app, which reportedly has over 14 million monthly users in the country.
