Thailand approves $2.7b for seven new data center projects

Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOI) has approved seven data center projects totaling over THB 96 billion (US$2.7 billion) to boost the country’s digital infrastructure.

Projects include three facilities by True Internet Data Centre, two sites from the Gulf, Singtel, and AIS joint venture, a Bangkok centre from Stecon Group and SC Zeus Data Centres, and investments from Singapore-based Freyr Technology.

In 2025, 36 data center projects worth THB 728 billion (US$23.2 billion) were submitted for investment promotion, mostly in Rayong, Chonburi, and Samut Prakan.

New BOI rules require at least 50% Thai staff in management and specialist roles within three years, and set efficiency standards for power and water usage.
