Tesla exec says company in ‘big swing’ with upcoming products
Tesla Vice President of Vehicle Engineering, Lars Moravy, highlighted the company’s upcoming projects during his speech at the “X Takeover” event in San Mateo on July 25, 2025.
The event, organized by the Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley club, featured Tesla products and ventures from Elon Musk’s other companies.
Moravy described Tesla as being in a significant development phase. He referenced its work on autonomous driving, the Robotaxi program, the humanoid robot Optimus, and the Semi truck.
He noted that the Semi, produced at Tesla’s Nevada facility, plays a crucial role in the company’s mission.
The event showcased several forthcoming projects, including the “Cybercab,” a two-seat autonomous vehicle without a steering wheel. This was presented alongside Optimus and the Tesla Semi.
Tesla has initiated limited rides with Model Y vehicles in Austin, although these are not fully autonomous.
In California, Tesla holds permits for operations with a driver but lacks approval for fully autonomous deployments.
Tesla faces challenges in its core automotive business, with declining sales in key markets, including California, noted over the past seven quarters.
Additionally, the expiration of federal EV tax credits in September may impact revenue. The company plans to introduce a new, more affordable EV, similar to the Model Y, later this year to help boost sales.
