Tesla China sees Model Y orders surge after 51.5% sales drop
Tesla has received over 200,000 orders for its updated Model Y SUV in mainland China.
The new model starts at US$36,292 and follows a drop in sales last month.
Production is being increased at Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory to meet early delivery demands, confirmed two sales managers in the city.
In February, Tesla’s sales in China fell to 30,688 units, a 51.5% drop from January and a 49.2% decrease compared to February 2024.
This figure represents the company’s lowest monthly sales since July 2022.
