Alibaba Group’s Taobao has announced an upgrade to its gift-giving feature, designed to simplify the process for users.

The new gifting feature is located alongside the “add to cart” and “buy now” buttons on item pages.

It allows users to send items to recipients without needing their shipping addresses.

After a purchase, buyers can send a virtual gift card with a passcode.

Recipients must claim the gift within 24 hours by entering the passcode and providing their delivery information.

To encourage use of this new feature, Taobao is offering a 15% discount on select gift purchases.
