Startup Rainmaker, AI weather firm Atmo team up to boost forecasts
Rainmaker, a cloud seeding company, has announced a partnership with Atmo, an AI-powered meteorology firm.
The collaboration aims to combine Atmo’s weather forecasting technology with Rainmaker’s cloud seeding efforts.
Under the agreement, Atmo will use its deep learning models to identify suitable clouds for seeding.
Rainmaker will supply data from its radar systems to assess precipitation results.
Furthermore, Atmo will offer Rainmaker’s drone-based cloud seeding services to its clients.
Cloud seeding aims to increase precipitation by altering cloud structures, but its results can vary based on region and weather conditions.
The West Texas Weather Modification Association, which has worked with Rainmaker, reported a 15% annual increase in rainfall—around two inches—due to such initiatives.
