SoftBank-backed SB Energy plans up to $500m Japan sale

SB Energy, a data center developer based in Tokyo and the US and backed by SoftBank Group, said in a September 15 filing that it plans to sell up to US$500 million of new shares to Japanese investors alongside its planned US listing.

The proceeds will fund general operating costs for data centers, power generation, and related infrastructure projects.

The filing did not disclose the size of the US initial public offering.

SB Energy has publicly filed a Form S-1 in the US, but the available materials did not specify a listing exchange or ticker symbol.

Earlier this month, SB Energy’s prospectus said Nvidia committed to invest US$1.5 billion in a private placement at the IPO price.

The prospectus also said OpenAI was issued warrants worth about US$5.5 billion.
