SoftBank develops AI system to assist autonomous vehicles
SoftBank Corp. has developed an AI system to assist autonomous vehicles remotely.
Called the ‘traffic understanding multimodal AI,’ this technology aims to improve vehicle safety and lower operational costs by processing data in real-time using edge AI servers.
A field trial began in October 2024 at Keio University’s Shonan Fujisawa Campus in Fujisawa, Kanagawa.
The trial tests the AI’s ability to support autonomous vehicles remotely by analyzing traffic conditions through forward-facing cameras to suggest safe driving actions.
