The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) and Ant International plan to launch cross-border QR code payments linking Saudi Arabia’s national payment system, mada, with Alipay+ in 2026.

Ant International, based in Singapore, operates digital payment and financial technology services across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America.

The new service will enable merchants in Saudi Arabia, including small businesses, to accept QR payments from Alipay+ international partners.

Alipay+ connects over 1.7 billion user accounts through 36 partners, and is accepted by more than 100 million merchants in 70 markets.

This partnership comes as Saudi Arabia pursues its Vision 2030 goals, which include expanding digital payments and increasing tourism.

Alipay+ is already integrated with national payment systems in several Asian countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, and South Korea.
