Samsung Electronics said July 8, that it has started mass production of its PM1763 enterprise solid-state drive (SSD) for AI data centers.

The drive will be used in Nvidia’s upcoming Vera Rubin platform.

Nvidia described Vera Rubin as a rack-scale supercomputer platform that combines graphics processing units (GPUs), central processing units (CPUs), and networking in a direct liquid-cooled design.

Vera Rubin NVL4 systems are expected to be available in Q4 from server makers.

Samsung said the PM1763 is a PCIe Gen6 enterprise SSD for AI and high-performance computing.

The company said its “more than 2x” speed gain is compared with its earlier PM1753 model.

Samsung’s product page says the 16-terabyte version can reach up to 28,400 megabytes per second in sequential read speeds.

Samsung’s materials also said the PM1763 is designed for liquid-cooled server environments, rather than as a self-contained liquid-cooled SSD.

TrendForce said Samsung led the enterprise SSD market in the first quarter of 2026 with a 35% share, ahead of SK hynix Group.
