Samsung cancels $2.11b in shares, plans $2.7b buyback

Samsung Electronics has announced the cancellation of 3.5 trillion won (US$2.11 billion) in treasury shares.

The decision was made public in a regulatory filing.

Additionally, the company plans to buy back shares worth 2.7 trillion won (US$1.9 billion) in common stock and 304 billion won (US$211 million) in preferred stock.

This buyback program is set to take place from Feb. 19 to May 16.
