Plug and Play, Thales partner to scale deep-tech startups
Plug and Play, a Silicon Valley-based innovation platform, said on July 15 that it had partnered with Thales, a France-based technology company focused on defense, aerospace, and cyber and digital systems.
The partnership aims to help deep-tech startups expand internationally through Thales’ Trust My Tech program.
Under the deal, Plug and Play will apply its Innovation Framework at Thales.
Trust My Tech Singapore will be the first hub to use the framework in Asia-Pacific, as the partners scout startups in AI, cybersecurity, communications, digital identity, aerospace and space, sustainability, fintech, regulatory technology, quantum technologies, and other emerging fields.
Selected startups may work with Thales teams on proof-of-concept projects, pilot initiatives, and possible commercial collaborations with Thales’ regional and global business units.
The partnership adds to Singapore’s deep-tech ecosystem, which includes Startup SG, with S$1 billion (US$773 million) set aside for early- and growth-stage deep-tech investments, alongside support for commercialization and accelerators.
Startups in dual-use sectors may also need to navigate Singapore’s strategic goods rules, which cover military and dual-use goods, software, and technologies.
