PayPal to invest $100m in Middle East, Africa digital commerce

PayPal will invest US$100 million in the Middle East and Africa through a combination of minority stakes, acquisitions, venture funding, and technology deployment.

The US-based payments company said the funds will support digital commerce and local entrepreneurs in these regions.

The initiative follows PayPal’s April opening of its first regional hub in Dubai.

PayPal has previously backed regional startups such as Tabby, Paymob, and Stitch through its venture arm.

The company said the investment aims to help local businesses scale and expand access to digital payments.
