Krutrim, one of India’s leading AI companies, has established the country’s first AI frontier research lab, named the Krutrim AI Lab.

This initiative aims to advance AI research, create models for Indic languages, and address the nation’s AI infrastructure needs.

The company shared an initial investment of 2,000 crore rupees (US$ $230 million), which consists of both equity and debt.

It plans to invest a total of 10,000 crore rupees (US$1.15 billion) by 2026.

The Krutrim AI Lab will promote AI research through collaborations with academic institutions, developers, and startups.

The lab is also focused on creating datasets for low-resource environments and deploying AI systems adapted to India’s specific needs.
