Nvidia to supply AI hardware, software to Toyota

Nvidia said on July 16 that it will supply AI hardware and software to Toyota Motor Corp., Japan’s largest automaker, for smart city projects, traffic intelligence systems, and car factories.

The deal expands a partnership that began in 2017 on automated driving and now includes Toyota’s Woven City in Japan.

Toyota plans to use Nvidia platforms at the Shizuoka Prefecture site to build digital twins of vehicle assembly lines and support robotics and automotive software development.

Toyota described Woven City as a test course for mobility.

Toyota and Woven by Toyota said in April 2026 that the site launched in September 2025 with systems that analyze camera, vehicle, traffic-signal, and user-input data to coordinate safety across the city.

The partnership deepened in January 2025, when Toyota committed to building next-generation vehicles on Nvidia’s Drive AGX Orin platform and DriveOS.

The deal also extends Nvidia’s industrial AI push, which includes software for deploying robots.

Toyota’s factory plans also reflect an industry shift toward using digital twins in auto production.
