Billionaire Elon Musk will step down from his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) at the end of May, as his special government employee status expires.

He has been leading efforts to shrink the federal government’s size and scope during his tenure.

Despite his departure, US Vice President JD Vance said on Apr. 3, that Musk will remain a “friend and an adviser” to the White House.

Details about their interactions remain undisclosed, and neither Musk nor Vance have publicly commented on the specifics of their discussions.
