Meta’s Reality Labs reports nearly $5b loss in Q4
Meta’s Reality Labs division, which focuses on virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies, reported an operating loss of US$4.97 billion in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The division generated US$1.1 billion in revenue, slightly exceeding analysts’ expectations, who predicted a loss of US$5.4 billion.
The division has accumulated over US$60 billion in operating losses since its establishment in 2020, raising concerns among Wall Street analysts regarding Meta’s long-term commitment to the metaverse.
Looking forward, Meta plans to invest between US$60 billion and US$65 billion in capital expenditures in 2025.
