Meta’s policy changes spark employee concerns in UK
Meta’s recent decision to eliminate its fact-checking initiatives and diversity programs has raised concerns among its United Kingdom-based employees, according to a letter from the Prospect union.
This union, which represents an increasing number of Meta’s workers, warned that these changes could impact the company’s reputation and talent retention.
In a letter to Meta’s HR director for EMEA, Prospect highlighted concerns from long-serving employees about reduced workplace inclusivity.
These worries coincide with Meta’s plan to cut 5% of its global workforce, impacting about 3,600 employees, including UK staff.
The union urged Meta to protect marginalized employees, including the LGBTQ+ community, from discrimination under new policies.
It also sought assurances against arbitrary performance reviews tied to an overhaul of the company’s evaluation system.
