Meta plans $837m data center in US state for AI push
Meta Platforms plans to invest nearly US$1 billion in a new data center in Wisconsin, US. The US$837 million project, first disclosed in February under an alias, was detailed in state documents reviewed by Bloomberg.
The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation has not named the company, and a Meta spokesperson declined to comment.
The initiative is part of Meta’s broader plan to expand its AI and cloud infrastructure. The company is set to spend up to US$65 billion in capital expenditures in 2025, with a focus on AI.
Meta already runs data centers in Iowa and DeKalb, Illinois. The project is still in early stages and pending final approval.
Wisconsin is also attracting other tech giants like Microsoft and OpenAI for similar developments.
