Meta Platforms has expressed concerns about Malaysia’s upcoming requirement for social media platforms to secure a regulatory licence by January 2025.

The company has noted issues with the plan’s lack of detailed guidelines and the narrow timeframe.

In July, Malaysia announced the regulation targeting platforms with over 8 million users.

The move aims to tackle online issues like financial scams, cyberbullying, and sexual crimes.

Non-compliant companies could face legal action.
