Israel’s gaming industry contributes 2% GDP, employs 14k

Israel’s gaming industry contributes about 2% to the nation’s GDP and employs around 14,000 people, according to Eitan Reisel, managing partner at Israel’s venture fund Vgames.

He highlighted the sector’s growth over the past 15 years, with around 1,000 independent game development teams, though female representation among founders remains low.

Lior Kenan, executive VP of growth at Israel’s digital entertainment company Playtika, acknowledged challenges like global instability but emphasized the industry’s adaptability and need for innovation.

Separately, Reisel of Vgames also announced the completion of a US$50 million fundraising round for an undisclosed gaming company.
