🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Alert overload represents a massive operational challenge across the cybersecurity industry
Tonic Security is addressing a problem with clear quantifiable impact across the industry.
Organizations typically receive over 10,000 alerts daily related to potential security incidents, creating significant alert fatigue among analysts1. This volume overwhelms security teams, with Cisco’s 2018 study showing that organizations can only investigate 56% of security alerts, and only 34% of those turn out to be legitimate threats2.
The problem is compounded by a global cybersecurity workforce shortage of 2.7 million unfilled positions, making it even harder for understaffed teams to process the alert volume effectively3.
This creates a dangerous situation where analysts may dismiss alerts without proper investigation, increasing the risk of missing genuine threats4.
2️⃣ Automation-focused cybersecurity solutions show strong market validation and financial returns
Companies tackling similar alert management problems have demonstrated impressive operational improvements that suggest strong market demand for Tonic’s approach.
Existing solutions show dramatic efficiency gains: Swimlane’s platform can reduce security alert volumes by up to 95%, while Expel’s managed detection service cuts alert noise by 99% and achieves a 17-minute mean time to respond for critical incidents35.
The financial impact is substantial, with automation saving approximately 3,700 hours of security operations work annually, translating to cost savings of over $160,000 per month for Fortune 100 clients3.
