Israeli cybersecurity firm Cyera acquires Genie Security
Cybersecurity company Cyera has acquired Israeli endpoint data protection startup Genie Security for an estimated US$50 million about five months after the startup was founded.
Genie’s software is designed to spot attempts to leak sensitive data from employee devices, including through generative AI tools.
Its team will join Cyera’s data loss prevention unit.
Genie had five employees and raised US$3 million in seed funding from Mensch Capital and Dynamic Loop, with angel backing from Wiz CEO Assaf Rappaport and executives from Okta and Elastic.
It is at least Cyera’s fifth recent acquisition after Ryft and Trail Security.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Acquisition brings device data into Cyera’s security plan
- Cyera sells a data security platform for cloud and software as a service (SaaS) (software-as-a-service) environments, and says data is now the security perimeter 1.
- Omni DLP sits on top of existing tools with an AI layer that connects their signals, cuts false positives, and sorts alerts 2.
- The Genie Security acquisition adds endpoint telemetry, or data from employee devices, to Cyera’s platform. That expands its view beyond cloud and SaaS systems.
- The added signal gives Cyera another source for the platform it says secures data “at rest, in motion, and in use” 3.
Deal signals demand for DLP built for GenAI leak risks
- The roughly US$50 million price for a five-month-old startup suggests strong demand for data loss prevention tools tied to generative AI leakage risks.
- The move matches Cyera’s Omni DLP approach, which uses centralized AI-driven decisions layered over current enforcement points instead of a full replacement 2.
- It also fits a broader security design shift toward combining signals across scattered controls, which helps teams make steadier decisions 2.
- Cyera says fast AI adoption is widening attack surfaces and stretching the gap between innovation and security maturity, which keeps security spending in focus 4.
