Israeli autotech firm Aurora Labs is laying off 45 employees, or 60% of its total workforce, as it shift focus toward high-performance computing (HPC) monitoring in vehicles and data centers.

Founded in 2016, the company previously provided software tools for automakers, including over-the-air (OTA) software updates.

However, the uptake of OTA updates has lagged, with many automakers still relying on in-garage updates.

The company is now focusing its AI platform, LOCI, for real-time monitoring of software issues in processors used in HPC systems.

Despite the layoffs, Aurora Labs claims to be financially stable, with cash reserves in the tens of millions.

Aurora Labs has raised nearly US$100 million from investors such as Porsche SE, Moore Strategic Ventures, and Toyota Tsusho.
