Israel unveils AI supercomputer to boost tech innovation

Israel has launched an AI supercomputer to support local tech and academic research, following a tender process that selected Nebius to build and operate the infrastructure.

The system is now active, with plans to allocate computing resources equivalent to 1,000 Nvidia B200 accelerators over the coming years.

Seventy percent of these resources will serve high-tech firms working on AI model training, while 30 percent will support academic research.

The initiative aims to provide access to high-performance computing at lower-than-market rates, with future expansion expected as demand increases.

Dror Bin, CEO of the Israel Innovation Authority, said the project strengthens Israel’s R&D capabilities in AI and aims to foster industrial and research innovation.

The authority plans to begin distributing accelerators to researchers in the coming weeks.
