Intel considers separating manufacturing, product units
Intel’s interim leadership is still considering whether to separate the company’s manufacturing and product-development divisions.
CFO Dave Zinsner, who is also interim co-CEO, responded to questions about potential structural changes by saying it is “an open question for another day.”
He noted the two divisions already function separately, each with its own oversight and financial records.
Intel’s financial struggles and its performance compared to competitors are central to the conversation about a potential division split.
The company’s shares increased by 1.9% to US$20.50 during trading in New York. However, they have fallen 60% this year as of Wednesday’s close.
